Song of the Week: Hundred In The Hands – Pigeons (3rd Nov ’10)

Hi!

Another tracks I accidentally found while surfing in an Mp3 Forum, it easily caught me. I guess Nu-Disco-like tracks get me easily these days… I gotta say, the way real drums & drum-machines are combined is exceptional, and the bassline is one of the most clever and addictive I’ve ever heard recently! Enjoy the NY band, Hundred In The Hands!
Just for the history, the band was formed in 2008, after a small recording session that took place 10 months ago, during a tour of The Boggs. In that small session the current duo had recorded Dressed In Dresden. Now, Jason and Eleanore, after releasing their first EP This Desert, they strike back with their debut, full-length self-titled album, which can be characterized from post-punk to nu-disco (french pop according to some). Anyways, whatever it is, I love their bass swinging and their poppy synth tuned on the background. Well done guys!
Lyrics

======================================

Saturday comes,
Sunday comes, we go…
Saturday comes,
Sunday comes, we go…
We go…

Kicking on the edge of town
Counting all the pigeons down
Walking in the steps of men.
I have the feeling they’re not breathing.

She’s shaking like a rattle
Sneaking out, the hour’s still
Waiting for the room to fall in
Watching the time unwind.

Saturday, Saturday
Saturday comes,
Sunday comes, we go…

Kicking on the edge of town
Counting all the pigeons down
Walking in the steps of men.
I have the feeling they’re not bleeding.

Laughing like a right-loon
Slavering at the silvery moon
Waiting for the room to fall in
Waiting for him to come.

Saturday, Saturday
Saturday comes,
Sunday comes, we go…

She is still not still is not still.
He is here and not here at all.

Cold grey morning,
Waking in his room she goes
Crawling out the window,
Climbing up the crooked stairs.
Above the ceiling leaning tracing pigeons
Turning circles in the morning sky.
“I don’t know why, you don’t just fly away,
Fly away!
Fly away!”

Saturday comes,
Sunday comes, we go…
Saturday comes,
Sunday comes, we go…
Saturday comes,
Sunday comes, we go…
I don’t know why, you don’t just fly away,
Away, away, away
Saturday comes,
Sunday comes, we go…
I don’t know why, you don’t just fly away,
Away, away, away
We go…
